Digital Media FAQ

1. How do I get an account on Georgia State’s video server?

Contact the Help Center at 404-413-4357 to request an account on Georgia State's video server. Most accounts are ready within two business days.

2. How much file space can I have in my video server account?

Each account user is granted 1 GB of file space. This allows enough storage space for an hour or more of video, depending on the type of compression used to create the files. Generally, the higher the quality of your video, the more space they take up. The media experts in the Digital Media Group will help you find the right file compression to fit your needs.

3. What kinds of files can I host on the video server?

Georgia State uses a Real Networks server. It can be used to host QuickTime and mp3 files. Most any video file ending in the extension .rm will work and many files ending in .mov will stream as well. Please contact one of the UETS media experts at 404-413-4500 for guidance.
